Stockli Outdoor Sports- Chronology since 1935 |
1935
|
Josef Stöckli produces solid wooden skis from ash
in his parent's carpentry shop. Friends and colleagues order
approximately 50 pairs of skis. Josef Stöckli considers
production and sales as a hobby. |
1945 |
Production of the first glue assembled wooden ski. The
ski was made with hickory and ash and steel edges were screwed
on. Experiments were also made with glued on celluloid upper
edges. |
1951 |
Establishment of an independent ski company in Wolhusen
based in rented premises. |
1957 |
Production of the first metal ski.

1959 |
Entire production moves to metal skis. The wooden ski
disappears from the already large Stöckli range.

1965 |
Production of the first
plastic compound ski.

Skis are distributed through sports outlets until 1967

ab 1967 |
The product range is continually broadened with the addition
of ski bindings, ski boots, cross country skis and accessories.

Opening of the 1st Stöckli branch in Sörenberg
(Canton Lucerne).

Opening of the new production facilities in Malters.

1987 |
Opening of the 2nd Stöckli branch in Heimberg, near
Thun (Canton Berne).

Opening of the 3rd Stöckli branch in Wädenswil
(Canton Zurich).
1st rejection of application for admission to the "Swiss Ski
Pool" because Stöckli is not a member of "SPAF" (Supplier's
Association) and "ASMAS" (Sports Dealer's Association) due
to its direct sales policy! |
1989 |
Eröffnung der 4. Stöckli Filiale in Wil (SG).

1990 |
2nd rejection of application for admission to the "Swiss
Ski Pool".

1991 |
Stöckli becomes a member of the "Ski Pool" in the
Principality of Liechtenstein. Marco Büchel (Liechtenstein)
is the first skier to officially race in the Ski World Cup
on Stöckli skis.

1992 |
3rd rejection of application for admission to the "Swiss
Ski Pool".

1993 |
Opening of the 5th Stöckli branch in Volketswil (Canton
Zurich).

1994 |
Admission to the "Swiss Ski Pool".
The first Swiss Stöckli skiers are: Olympic silver
medal winner Urs Kälin and Marcel Sulliger.

1995 |
Opening of the 6th Stöckli branch in Zuchwil (Canton
Solothurn).
Distribution policy changes. Demand for Stöckli skis increases
worldwide due to World Cup success.
Stöckli pursues selective distributorship in Switzerland
and supplies specially selected retail sports outlets. (This
reaches 31 outlets in the 2007/08 season).
Stöckli establishes its export business with the USA,
Canada, Japan, Italy, Austria and Germany. (Increasing to 32
countries in the 2007/08 season).
Stöckli Ski wins its 1st Swiss Championship title with
Urs Kälin in the Giant Slalom.

1996 |
6th January 1996, Flachau (Austria)
- Urs Kälin in the Giant Slalom posts Stöckli's first
ever World Cup victory.
Stöckli launch its own range of mountain bikes.
Dominique Perret (extreme skier) signs contract and takes on
the leading role in the Stöckli video "Natural Born Skier".

1997 |
"Swiss Sports College Foundation, Engelberg". Stöckli
supports the good idea and is a co-sponsor!
Dominique Perret and Jean Troillet are the first to challenge
the north side of Mount Everest on skis. Due to very bad weather,
they are unable to ski from the top (descent begins at
8,500 m). |
1998 |
Paul Accola is Swiss Champion in Super G and Combination
and also wins a bronze medal in Downhill and Slalom.
Dominique Perret:
- Development and promotion of the first Stöckli Freeride
Ski "STORMRIDER"
- World record with Stormrider: Dominique Perret as he skis
a total hight of 120,000
metres on Mount Alberta (Canada) in just 14 hours
- Stöckli's STORMRIDER features in its 2nd film "Just
in Powder".
Opening of the 7th Stöckli branch in St-Légier

1st World Cup Slalom victory for Stöckli with Didier
Plaschy
Production in Malters is expanded.
3rd ski film "Soul Pilot" with Dominique Perret. He is also
accepted into the "Sector No Limit Team" which has only 30
extreme sport members worldwide. |
2000 |
The "Stöckli Bike Racing Team" is established (7
athletes)
- Participation in the "Elvia Swiss Cup" and "Strom Cup"
Opening of the 1st Stöckli Hire & Service Center in
Stöckalp / Frutt (Canton Obwalden).

2001 |
World Championships in St. Anton (Austria):
- Paul Accola wins the bronze medal in Combination
European Cup:
- Ambrosi Hoffmann - 1 st in the overall Downhill / 1st in
the overall standings
- Beni Hofer - 2nd in overall Giant Slalom standings
Swiss Championships:
- Thomas Geisser - bronze medal in Giant Slalom
- Tanja Bühler - silver medal in Combination
Urs Kälin steps down from racing and starts as Stöckli's
Race Manager.
Stöckli opens its 2nd Hire & Service Center (Hoch-Ybrig
in Canton Schwyz).

Andrea Huser wins the Bike Long Distance European Championships
in Bad Göisern, Austria

- Fabienne Suter - 1st in Giant Slalom and 3rd in Super G

The flood of the century also affected
the store in Wolhusen. The basement floor has to be completely
renovated.
Following many highlights, the ?Stöckli
Bike Team? ends the season successfully:
- Daniela Louis 1st-place winner
of the Marathon World Cup,
overall winner of the Michelin Bike Classic
- Urs Huber overall winner (U23) of the
Michelin Bike Classic
- Thomas Zahnd 3rd place overall
in the Michelin Bike Classic |

Ambrosi Hoffmann wins the bronze medal in Super-G at
the Olympic Games in Turin ITA
The Bike Team Stöckli-Craft celebrated

- Renata Bucher: 2nd place Cross Country Swiss Championships
in Savognin
- Daniela Louis: 3th place Cross Country Swiss Championships
in Savognin
- Thomas Stoll: 1st place "iXS swiss bike classic" (overall),
2nd place Marathon Europe Championships in Italien,
2nd place Marathon Swiss Championships in Einsiedeln
- Thomas Zahnd: 1st place Euro Bike Extremes (overall),
2nd place Marathon Swiss Championships in Einsiedeln,
3th place "iXS swiss bike classic" (overall)

Reopening of the Stöckli branch in Zuchwil and

2007 |
On 23 February 2007 in
Garmisch, Andrej Jerman won the first World Cup downhill
race in the history of Stöckli.
The next day, he confirmed his success by taking 2nd place
in the second run in Garmisch.
The Bike Team Stöckli-Craft celebrated
the following results:
Urs Huber: 1st place in the overall ranking

Stöckli has renewed its market presence
and changed its name to "Stöckli Swiss Sports AG".
On 1 October 2007 the new logo
and slogan will be launched. Stöckli is "moving differently". |
